Global Connections Seminar Name: VIANCA A MATOS
Project Planning Form
When planning your project, you need to think about how each element relates to your main idea.
Field of Study: Education and Global Issues
Goal of your project: (include why your research/project is important to your field; how is it going to enhance you as an individual)
My goal is to educate people on different types of disabilities and to be tolerant.
Potential Committee Members: (Who would help enhance your project?)
Does intolerance for people with disabilities worsen their condition?
Action: (event, internship – where, why?)
My action would be to have a virtual internship with Mr. Glowacki ; and get him to come speak at all 11 high schools.
To Target Date: (when and why then?)
Any time available would be good.
Action’s Connectivity to Research:
My research will be how intolerance affects the development of the person with disabilities. The public speaking will be to educate to be tolerant and understand; and also to stand up for people with disabilities.
Beneficiaries: (Who, besides you, will benefit from your project?)
Support: (What organizations might you seek out for support or to benefit?)
It will be beneficiary not only for the students attending the assembly but also the children or adults dealing with disabilities.
Publicity/Marketing: (How will you specifically market your event, or market yourself to get an internship?)
The assemblies will be announced during the morning announcements at all the schools and for some classes attendance would be mandatory.
Cost Analysis: (What do you specifically need to buy to make your action happen? How much will it cost you?)
I don’t think any money would go into this; unless Mr. Glowacki has a fee for coming and speaking.
Community Service Element: (In what additional ways will you contribute to your community?)
It will be a positive experience for everyone involved and it will open up a lot of people’s eyes to think and see persons with disabilities differently.
Sustainability:
This will be an event that will have an impact and from a simple assembly I hope to impact them to think differently for the rest of their life. I want them to walk away from the assembly more aware of others and way more open and understanding. The impact of the assembly will last a lifetime that is my goal.
Reflection:
I think this project will help me grow as a person and help a lot of people feel better about themselves and their situation. It will be a very positive, happy, inspirational experience for everyone involved.
